From tear-jerking slow jams to gorgeously romantic dittys, this quickfire list should give you all you need to know when it comes to choosing your first dance tune at your Wedding. With such a massive range of tunes from classic to contemporary, it’s hard to boil it down to only a few, but we’ve done our best! Here are our top 5 first dance songs for 2020 and beyond.

Ed Sheeran & Andrea Bocelli – Perfect

Now if this isn’t the “perfect” first dance song, we don’t really know what is. Man of the moment Ed joins classicist virtuoso Bocelli for this gorgeous track that combines contemporary romance with the gorgeous throw-back romanticism of days-gone-by. Absolute perfection!

Etta James – At Last

This track takes you all the way back to the swingin’ sixties, but the soulful sweetness of this timeless classic from Etta James just keeps coming back. If we were asked to name the most popular first dance tune of all time, this track would certainly be up there – if not the top of the list.

John Legend – All of Me

Heading back to the contemporary for a moment, John Legend’s ‘All of Me’ ticks all the boxes for a beautifully romantic first dance. Sumptuously soothing vocals wash over a beautifully mellow soundscape as Legend declares his undying love. Take some tips lads!

Alison Krauss – When You Say Nothing At All

We could tell you why this is a great choice, but we think it’s said best… when we say nothing at all. Sorry, just kidding – this Alison Krauss cover of Keating’s classic is a brilliantly romantic take that really exemplifies the first dance perfectly – no words, just pure emotion!

Brad Paisley – Then

Sometimes, nothing can quite beat a little dash of country; especially when it’s a track this chock full of raw emotion! Paisley’s 2009 single ‘Then’ won multiple awards, and it’s no surprise why. Just try and listen without bringing a little tear to your eye.

We hope this helps you kick off your first dance search, or maybe you’ve even found your perfect track already! Let us know if you have any tips or suggestions, or if you’ve chosen your track and now need to find the perfect DJ to play it… look no further!
