Jared and Bryony’s Norwood Park Wedding

by Tuesday 29th November 2022blog

Four years after booking, two years of postponing, we were super excited to FINALLY celebrate with Jared and Bryony back in June when they got married at Norwood Park.

Norwood Park Wedding

The Back Story

Back in June 2018 J&B got in touch with team Jackstar to discuss their Norwood Park wedding, and more specifically their wedding entertainment. After hearing about our award winning Wedding DJ’s and also our new (at the time!) magic selfie mirror, J&B decided to go ahead and book the two in for their June 2020 wedding.

Now it won’t surprise you that this date couldn’t go ahead. Thanks Covid! Hopeful that things would be much different in the New Year, J&B moved their wedding to May 2021. At the time we all thought this was achievable and it definitely didn’t cross my mind that this date might not go ahead either.

Early 2021 J&B had to sadly move their wedding again. Deciding to push it right back to June 2022 to ensure that they could have their wedding day as they had planned all along. Here at Jackstar we were thrilled that we could once again accommodate the new date and finally we’d be able to be a part of J&B’s Norwood Park wedding.

The lead up to the Wedding Day

Once Covid hit, I decided to start something that we’d been talking about for a while. Now, more than ever, it was important that our couples knew we were very much still here and we wanted to share some positive news rather than all of the doom and gloom we were hearing and reading about.

To keep in touch over such a long period of time, we introduced a weekly (ok, mostly weekly!) newsletter. This way couple could keep up to date with what we were up to hear at Jackstar HQ, even if it wasn’t actual weddings. Peace of mind, we nailed it!

Around three months before J&B’s wedding it was time to start sorting out the finer details. First dance, cake cutting, any other special dances with parents and so on. We also looked at the right time to open the Magic Mirror and the print design to go with this. Once all of the final details and timings were confirmed with J&B, I contacted Norwood Park to confirm with them also and ensure we were all good to go on the day!

The Wedding Day

The day of J&B’s wedding at Norwood Park finally arrived. While they were having their ceremony and enjoying a delicious wedding breakfast our team were loading the van, checking the last minute details and getting everything ready and in place for the 7pm start.

At Norwood Park you have the bonus of the wedding breakfast and the evening reception in separate spaces. This means that on the day, your evening entertainment can be set up whilst you are enjoying your wedding breakfast and you don’t need a ‘turn around’ and there aren’t any disruptions either. Bonus!

On the day, we had DJ Chris and then myself setting up and looking after the Magic Mirror. Whilst the couple finished off their speeches the final bits of equipment were put in place so that once they had finished, the evening reception was ready to go with background music on and the mirror tried and tested!

With a few additional evening guests arriving at 7pm, J&B decided to have their cake cutting, followed by the first dance at 8pm. This works great as it means your evening guests have a chance to arrive (don’t assume they will arrive on time!), grab a drink and say their ‘Hellos’ before dancing begins.

Song for the cake cutting was – Luther Vandross and Mariah Carey – Endless Love

Followed by their first dance which was … Leva Zasimauskaitė – When we’re old

J&B asked that guests weren’t invited onto the dance floor for their first dance. They wanted to share this moment together for the duration of the song. After the first dance they asked for ABBA – Dancing Queen to be played. As you can imagine this filled the dance floor and then as they say, the rest is history!

Post Wedding & Kind Words

After J&B’s wedding we sent over an online gallery of all of the photos taken from the night. This is in addition to them receiving a guest book on the day with a physical copy of all of the photos stuck into a ‘scrap book’ style album and filled with some lovely (and funny) messages from their guests too!

After J&B’s wedding we had the following kind words…

“Everyone loved the DJ he really understood our music taste… the staff in general were fantastic, loved the message at the end of our guest book”

A HUGE thank you Jared and Bryony for your lovely words and for choosing team Jackstar to be a part of your Norwood Park wedding.
