When you think of wedding music, you probably think of cheesy floor-fillers as your inebriated uncle stumbles to the floor with his arms raised, delighted. Just us? Okay. Well, anyway – our team at Jackstar Weddings have put together an (almost) exhaustive list of the do’s and don’ts of the best wedding music around. Let’s get to it:
All of Me – John Legend
If you’re looking for fiery romance straight out of a fairytale, John Legend’s ‘All of Me’ is a guaranteed tear-jerker. It’s been the track of many a first dance, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be slipped into your playlist for a bit of a slow dance later in the evening. But not too late – otherwise the ties and shoes are probably already off. Have you ever tried to slow dance when your heads spinning? Us neither – but it probably wouldn’t look great.
Best of My Love – The Eagles
Sometimes you can’t beat a little bit of the oldies. ‘Best of My Love’ is an absolute belter, and no better way to get your very own oldies involved in the groove. Not only that, but it gives the modern dance enthusiasts a little chance to show off their best shuffle impressions.
I Gotta Feeling – Black Eyed Peas
When most people think of wedding parties, I guarantee they’ll probably think of this tune. That’s definitely not a bad thing though! As such, It’s almost guaranteed to spark a little sing-a-long, and let’s face it; ‘I Gotta Feeling’ is just a nice slice of feel-good fun. What’s not to like?
Hey Ya! – Outkast
On the same vein, ‘Hey Ya’ is an absolute classic track to get people shrieking along. It also offers plenty of opportunity for your guests to try their hand at a little shimmy. “Gimme some sugar!”
Simple – Florida Georgia Line
Now isn’t this a lovely tune? Florida Georgia Line are undoubtedly a little bit boyband-y, but hey – boybands are always a hit at weddings, right?
One Kiss – Dua Lipa & Calvin Harris
Bringing a little slice of old school garage vibes but with such slick modern production, ‘One Kiss’ is pretty much always going to bring your guests to the floor. Not to mention how ridiculously catchy it is.
Feel It Still – Portugal, The Man
Still keeping the dance vibes alive, ‘Feel It Still’ is a delectable dash of upbeat feel-good that’ll drag even the most stodgy of dancers to the floor.
High Hopes – Panic! At The Disco
A far cry from the emo roots of their past, Panic! At The Disco’s ‘High Hopes’ brings that happy-go-lucky sing-a-long that every wedding party craves.
Despacito (Remix feat. Daddy Yankee) – Luis Fonsi
Sorry, we just couldn’t resist. But who doesn’t love a little bit of ‘Despacito’? Admittedly it’s not the Justin Bieber version, but honestly – if you want a bit of the Beebs, we’re not one to judge.
